Flockers: new IP from Team17
Posted in In Development by SupSuper at 28/03/14 2:30pm CDT

"New from Team17 - Flockers is a twisted blend of Lemmings' inspired gameplay and Tim Burton style macabre, all topped off with a dose of that classic Worms humour!

Held for years within the evil thrall of the Worms, the sheep are finally making a dash for freedom! Escaping the tyrannical Worms, the flock must dodge their way past all manner of lethal machinery and traps as they negotiate their path through the confinement of the Worms weapons factory and onwards to pastures green.

Flockers will be coming to PC via Steam Early Access in Q2 2014."

Well that came out of nowhere. Not much else is known, but you can check the official Facebook for upcoming details.

Amiga Game Wrappers for Mac OS X
Posted in Amiga Classics by SupSuper at 19/03/14 12:11am CDT

Love classic Amiga games but can't be bothered to set up an emulator just to replay them? Well you're in luck, Amigoianer has been developing game wrappers for Mac OS X that include a pre-configured emulator for various Amiga games, so you can play them as simply as any other application. You just need the appropriate game disk files and Amiga ROMs to use them.

Currently the only available Team17 games are Alien Breed and Overdrive, but we hope to see more added later. Smile

Worms Battlegrounds coming to next-gen consoles
Posted in Worms by SupSuper at 10/02/14 10:00am CST

Worms Battlegrounds is the name of the newly announced Worms game, proving that Team17 still hasn't run out of words to put next to "Worms". This will be Team17's first title on the new next-gen consoles, slated for release in 2014 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Team17 back in the publishing business
Posted in Team17 Company News by SupSuper at 16/11/13 2:45pm CST

If you've thumbed through the Softography+, you've noticed a lot of titles with another developer's title on them. Back in the Amiga days Team17 didn't develop everything themselves, they often acted as a publisher for other parties to help them out with their success on the platform. However once the Amiga died out, they went back to being just another developer maintaining a presence on the PC with the help of other publishers.

Fast-forward to now, when thanks to digital distribution Team17 is back to being their own man, and now they've decided it's time to return to the publishing business as well. The first title under their mantle is Light, an indie stealth infiltration game currently making its rounds through Greenlight. We'll be featuring these titles here just like any other Team17 game.

Not many details about it so far, besides that it'll be building up on its predecessor, and feature some form of clan wars. Probably.

If you're in the UK, Team17 will be unveiling it as well as Superfrog HD over at Rezzed (I hear other companies will be there too but who cares about those Razz), so maybe go check it out and let us know what all the fuss is about.

Team17 Forum shutting down
Posted in Other Stuff by SupSuper at 08/06/13 9:31am CDT

After more than 10 years of service, the Official Team17 Forum is shutting down. You might think why it's such a big deal, a forum going away, it's just a website, big whoop.

Well, for me, it was the first online community I ever joined when I got this new-fangled thing called the Internet. And it was a nice place. Everyone was nice and friendly, people discussed all kinds of things, crazy forum games, amazing fan-art, terrible in-jokes, and more. Even Team17 occasionally interacted in there. It was a very silly fun place. I learned a lot of stuff and met a lot of nice people that I still talk to this very day. It was an invaluable experience of my life.

I'm sure a lot of Dream17 staff feel this way. Hell, if it wasn't for the forum, most of us probably would've never met and Dream17 itself would've never existed. How about that! So you know, credit where credit is due and all that. But times change. Team17 changed. The forum ain't what it used to be anymore, and these days it's all social this and blog that, so I understand Team17's decision. No point in clinging to the past really.

But here at Dream17, we're all about clinging to the past! So we've decided to bring back the old Dream17 Forum to fill in for the official forum's absence. Join us in waxing nostalgia and whatever else. Bring back some of that old comunity charm. Oh and we also have a Facebook and Steam Group now if, you know, you're into those things.

Mac Release for Worms Revolution
Posted in Worms by Squirminator2k at 06/06/13 3:32am CDT

Own a Mac? want to play the slightly disappointing Worms Revolution? You're in luck! A "Deluxe Edition" is available on the Mac App Store priced at 14.99 in the UK and $20.99 in the US. That pricing for a limited time only - the price goes up once their launch sale ends, though Team17 doesn't say specifically when that is.

The Deluxe Edition contains all of the preorder DLC as well as the three DLC packs released so far. Somehow I doubt the Mac version will see that fourth DLC pack in the works for the PC version, but in fairness I have my doubts as to whether the PC version will get that DLC either. Time will tell.

Worms Revolution Headed to Retail in Europe
Posted in Worms by Squirminator2k at 10/04/13 3:47pm CDT

Mastertronic, who have a long and storied history of rereleasing Team17 titles, have posted an entry on their website for yet another retail release of an Xbox Live Arcade title - this time a collection featuring Worms Revolution. Titled Worms: The Revolution Collection, the package states it will include "All 3 DLC Packs", which rather contradicts Team17's plans for a fourth DLC pack that they claim to have been working on for the last few months.

The pack is also to include Worms 2: Armageddon plus 5 DLC packs, which (and I'm just speculating here) probably includes the Battle Pack plus the five individual DLC packs that aren't the free "Mayhem Pack". Either that or they've just chosen five of the seven available DLC packs for the game. Or Mastertronic can't count.

The cover art is atrocious, by the way, but then that's nothing new - Team17 don't know how to do cover art anymore, and the thumbnails they put together for their digital releases translate exceptionally poorly to physical product. Also of note: Team17 and Mastertronic's decision to make this an Xbox 360 exclusive - previous collections put out by Mastertronic have been released for the PS3 as well, but negative fan reaction to the sluggish framerate and poor controls on the PS3 version may well have scuppered any plans to push it out to retail.

The Revolution Collection is priced at 24.99, and can be preordered from Sold-Out.co.uk, or from Amazon.co.uk for 24.

Also of note: The US version of Xbox.com now has an entry for the Worms Collection. This collection, previously released in Europe by Mastertronic, is being brought to the US by Maximum Games and includes the XBLA versions of Worms, Worms 2: Armageddon, and Worms: Ultimate Mayhem. Xbox.com doesn't list a release date, and it's possible this release might actually be cancelled.

Worms Armageddon Now Available to Purchase on Steam!
Posted in Worms by Squirminator2k at 19/03/13 1:26pm CDT

That's right, arguably the finest entry in the series is now available to buy on Steam. Team17's asking price is a bit steep - pricing for the UK region is 11.99, more than twice the price of the Sold Out Worms 2 + Worms Armageddon bundle, while US customers are being charged $14.99, which is slightly more reasonable when compared to the similarly-priced and significantly less content-filled Worms Revolution.

If you already own Worms Armageddon and don't want to have to bugger about with your CD-ROM anymore, the price point might be something of a turn-off. If you're a relative newbie to the series, introduced by recent titles such as Worms Reloaded and , I suppose you have to decide whether you're willing to pay a price like this for a 14 year-old PC game.

For those wondering, the Steam version should be kept up to date with new patches and will run on modern systems. It even plays nice with Wine if you're the sort of sadist who uses Linux.
